If you have a common cold, cough or have had Covid-19 within 10 days, we ask that you re-arrange your appointment if it is routine in nature.
We hope by implementing these simple steps we can reduce the risk of colds, coughs and Covid-19 spreading within the team; keeping us well, so that we can keep looking after you.
The Red House team thank you in advance for your consideration.
Denplan Excel Certification
Following a very detailed independent assessment of our dental practice in October 2022, we are proud to announce that we are again Denplan Excel Certified. The Denplan Excel Certification Programme is an advanced quality assurance programme, developed for dentists to help support clinical governance, professional regulation and excellence in patient care and communication. The assessment is performed every 18 months, allowing the practice to remain Denplan Excel Certified.
The Denplan Excel certification programme is an additional mark of quality. Being an Excel Certified practice we also pledge to use the most appropriate procedures and dental knowledge to ensure patients are receiving the highest standards of care from start to finish, as well as encouraging patients to be involved in any decision making stages.
Practice Investments
GBT: Guided Biofilm Therapy
Continuing the ethos of practice investment, we now also offer Guided Biofilm Therapy, a treatment protocol devised and used by leading gum specialists throughout the world. This more effective and minimally invasive therapy is now the gold standard for treatment of gum disease.
Guided Biofilm Therapy now better treats gum disease by targeting disease causing bacteria by using a dye to identify it then a warm water flushing system called ‘Airflow’ with a bactericidal powder to remove and kill the plaque biofilm in your mouth and prolong the time it takes to grow back. The airflow system also easily and gently removes unsightly stains that may be caused by tea, coffee, smoking and dietary factors leaving your teeth looking whiter, polished and feeling super smooth.
The ultrasonic scaler that the system uses is incredibly gentle and effortlessly removes tartar from your teeth without sensitivity. The whole system has been designed for comfort and uses water heated to prevent tooth sensitivity.
You’ll find it comfortable, efficient and will see the results for yourself!
3Shape Trios 3 Intra-oral scanner
The practice has continued on its digital journey and invested in an intra-oral scanner. The huge advantage of this is that it allows digital scans of your teeth to be taken to aid the labs in fabrication of crowns, bridges, mouthguards and snoring appliances.
It will also be an essential tool for Bryony when planning Invisalign orthodontic care.
The results we have had back from it are phenomenal. It has already proven to be a worthwhile investment in enhancing dental care and treatment.
Ventilation & Air Purification
The last few years has brought to our attention the need for active ventilation and air purification to help keep the air quality in the surgeries at the best quality possible. The practice has heavily invested in both with the fitting of air-conditioning units, active ventilation units and AeraMax Air purification units, all in an aim to keep the air clean whilst maintaining a pleasant ambient temperature.
Digital Radiographic Processor
We’ve said goodbye to our old x-ray developer and welcomed a new system to take its place.
The new system uses phosphor plates instead of traditional films which are often thinner and should make acquiring the image a lot easier for patients. The plates are then transferred to a new processor which uses laser scanning to save the image straight into our computer software. It will hopefully make our x-ray developing easier and faster.
Being a fully digital system it also allows us to reduce the level of radiation in each exposure you receive.
The final image can be viewed and enlarged on our monitors, making it easier to show and explain our findings.
Staff news:
Goodbye & Hello
In April of 2022 we said goodbye to Richard Marsden as he retired from over 30yrs as working as a Dentist. Richard will be missed by both the team and patients. Richard has been an invaluable asset to the local community as well as a wealth of knowledge and guidance to the Red House team.
Dr Bryony McCartney joined the team in the Spring of 2022, taking over from Richard. Bryony enjoys providing a full variety of general dental care, and like the rest of the Red House team, particularly values establishing relationships which foster the maintenance of your dental health. She enjoys advanced composite (tooth coloured filling) work and as a Certified Invisalign Provider is also excited to be able to take on some routine orthodontic cases at the Red House.
We love to learn...
The annual team CPR update was undertaken in October 2023.
Refreshing this essential skill ensures as a team we are prepared for emergencies if needed.
As well as the theory the team practiced emergency training within the dental surgeries as well as use of our defibrillator.
In November 2023 we had another excellent Denplan Tailor-made training session.
This was a full informative session for the whole team, involving learning, interaction and updating core subject areas.
Areas of training covered included "Conflict Resolution" and "Complaints Handling". Earlier in the year we also had a full day dedicated to topics around "Stress Managament" and "Ethical and Legal issues".
These essential sessions ensure we continue to provide the highest possible standards of Dental care at all times.
The whole team attended a Dental Infection Control & Decontamination training afternoon by Dentisan in November 2022.
This included training in cross infection control, water line management, personal protective equipment and hand hygiene.
This training ensures that all the team are up to date in the most recent UK guidance regarding strategies and techniques to control infection risks within the practice.
